I graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Applied Science in May 2020 and furthered my education by obtaining a Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2024. I chose to pursue these degrees because I've always had a strong interest in the combination of engineering and medicine, and this is also why I wanted to join UBC's Biomedical Engineering Student Team (UBC BEST) in my first year. Through my time on the team, I got the opportunity to work on an electronic emergency medical record system for Android (IDEA-EMR) and a stroke rehabilitation device (M2M) which allowed me to apply the technical skills I was learning in classes to real devices. From there, I moved onto a co-captain role for the team and have also been managing the team's website and social media since September 2017. Over time, my interests have expanded to include computer architecture, nanofabrication, control systems, microcontrollers, medical imaging and PCB design.
In addition to my academic interests, I have lots of other activities that I like to do in my spare time. Out of all of them, swimming is the one activity that holds the key to my heart. I competitively swam from 2006-2013, qualifying for multiple top level provincial meets (and almost a national level meet) over my career. I eventually left the sport to focus on other aspects of my life, but I still swim regularly to this day. Casually, I like to play a good round of badminton or go on hikes (I most recently conquered Garibaldi lake). A hobby that I've picked up in the last few years is PC building, which satisfies my itch to assemble something while allowing me to explore my creative side. Being at UBC, I got the chance to participate in various fun one-time events such as Day of the Longboat and Storm the Wall.
